Shelley Zetuni is the creative force behind Goldust Millinery. Zetuni marries traditional millinery techniques with contemporary styling and materials to create individual, vibrant headpieces.
Before starting her business, Zetuni studied millinery at Kensington & Chelsea College and with Rose Cory, milliner to the late Queen Mother.
"My inspiration is broad and diverse. It can come from absolutely anywhere; a fold in a piece of material,a detail on some baroque furniture that triggers an idea for a design detail, an image from a film, a piece of music or poetry that evokes an emotional response, the curve of a wrought-iron gate - the list is endless! They then become the inspiration for my hats, headpieces and accessories that I make in my North London studio.
My process begins with drawing, photography, and visits to galleries. Then back to the studio to begin sampling; dyeing different fabrics, working out shape and form, colour-ways, practical exploration and experimentation. With this technique, I often finds surprises which in turn develop into more considered designs"
Zetuni has been running Goldust Millinery in London since summer 2014.
